Kraaifontein, Cape Town – An attempted murder case has been opened after a bread delivery driver was shot in the face during a robbery in Wallacedene on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:30am in Basakabini Crescent. According to police, the driver was delivering bread when five unidentified men approached him and attempted to rob him. In the process, he was shot in the face and injured.
Western Cape police spokesperson Captain Frederick Van Wyk confirmed that Kraaifontein police registered the attempted murder case. The victim was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
CCTV footage of the incident, showing the delivery truck parked in front of a shop with assistants offloading bread before the shooting, was widely circulated on social media.
The shooting took place days after a similar incident in Khayelitsha on 17 April 2026, where two spaza shop workers were shot and killed while unloading a bread delivery truck. It also follows the fatal shooting of another delivery driver in Wallacedene on 24 January 2026 in Boesak Road.
As of the latest available information, no arrests have been reported, and the suspects remain at large. Police have not released further details on the victims’ condition or any additional developments in the investigation.
