Three people have died and several others were injured following a minibus taxi crash on the N12 bridge near Laris Street in Daveyton, Ekurhuleni, on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services responded to the scene after receiving a call at approximately 06:19.

According to the City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), paramedics and fire crews arrived to find a minibus taxi that had left the roadway and come to rest in a ditch.
Emergency personnel assessed multiple occupants at the scene.

Paramedics confirmed that three occupants were declared dead on the scene.
A total of twelve additional patients sustained injuries:
- Eight people suffered moderate injuries
- Four people sustained serious injuries
All injured individuals were treated at the scene before being transported to nearby hospitals by Gauteng Provincial Emergency Services.
Alleged shooting under investigation
Preliminary information from the scene indicates that the taxi may have been shot at prior to the crash.
