Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department Intensifies Operations Following Fatal Shooting In The Central Business District

On the morning of Monday, 27 April 2026, three men aged between 30 and 45 were shot and killed inside a McDonald’s restaurant at the corner of Jeppe and Smal Streets in the Johannesburg Central Business District. The victims were having breakfast when two masked gunmen entered the premises and opened fire. All three men were declared dead at the scene.

Emergency services responded immediately. The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department CCTV Reaction Unit secured the area and initiated search operations while the suspects fled.
