Police in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, have closed an investigation involving 14-year-old Allegra Styles and her 25-year-old boyfriend, Brent Naidoo, after the teenager was reported missing earlier in October.
According to the latest police update reported on 28 October 2026, the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, in consultation with the Senior Public Prosecutor, decided that no criminal charges would be opened against Naidoo. Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg confirmed that the matter had been finalised.
The decision followed an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Styles’ disappearance and the subsequent efforts to locate her and Naidoo.
Teenager Reported Missing in October
Styles was last seen on Thursday, 8 October 2026, at approximately 18:00. At the time, she was reportedly wearing a beige top and blue jeans.
A family member reported her missing to police on Saturday, 10 October.
According to information provided to investigators, the teenager had allegedly gone to Kamma Park to attend a party following an altercation with her boyfriend. After she was last seen, neither Styles nor Naidoo could initially be located.
Walmer police and the FCS Unit in Gqeberha became involved in efforts to establish her whereabouts.
During the search, officers visited several addresses and contacted people known to the teenager in an attempt to obtain information that could help locate her.
Police also appealed to members of the public for assistance and sought information from Naidoo, who investigators believed could help establish where Styles was. At that stage, the public appeal did not establish that he had committed a crime.
Teenager Found Safe in North End
On Tuesday, 13 October, police confirmed that Styles had been found safe and unharmed in Middle Street, North End, Gqeberha.
Captain Janse van Rensburg said members had followed up on information obtained during the investigation and successfully located the teenager.
The recovery brought the search for Styles to an end, although police initially indicated that inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the matter were continuing.
At the time, authorities declined to release further details, citing the sensitive nature of the case and the fact that it involved a minor.
No Criminal Charges to Be Opened
In the latest development, police confirmed that the FCS Unit, working alongside the Senior Public Prosecutor, had decided not to open criminal charges against Naidoo.
The decision followed interviews with Styles and her friend, according to the latest report.
Captain Janse van Rensburg confirmed that the matter had been finalised.
The decision means that no criminal charges will be pursued against Naidoo in connection with this investigation, based on the outcome communicated by police.
The available information does not indicate that Naidoo was convicted of an offence in connection with the incident, and the earlier search for him should not be interpreted as proof of wrongdoing.
Investigation Concluded
The case attracted attention after a missing-person appeal was issued for Styles and police sought assistance in tracing her whereabouts.
The investigation involved efforts by Walmer police and the FCS Unit, including visits to addresses and attempts to obtain information from people who knew the teenager.
After Styles was located, police initially withheld further details because of her age and the sensitive circumstances of the case.
The latest update confirms that the FCS Unit and the Senior Public Prosecutor decided against opening criminal charges against Naidoo and that police consider the matter finalised.
No further details about the interviews or the reasons behind the decision were provided in the available report.
The key developments are that Styles was found safe and unharmed, no criminal charges will be opened against Naidoo following the decision by the FCS Unit and Senior Public Prosecutor, and SAPS has confirmed that the matter is finalised.
