Four suspects, including a woman, have reportedly been arrested following the alleged robbery of a Bolt e-hailing driver in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg.
A social media update claims that Gauteng police arrested the four suspects after dashcam footage showing the incident circulated online and sparked widespread calls for their arrest.
A photograph circulating alongside the claims shows one woman and three men in what appears to be a police station. However, their identities and the circumstances of their reported arrests have not yet been independently confirmed.
Dashcam Footage Captures Alleged Robbery
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, in Eldorado Park.
The dashcam footage shows a woman entering the front passenger seat of the e-hailing vehicle before several men approach and enter the car.
One of the men appears to pull the handbrake from the back seat, while the woman appears to reach for the driver’s cellphone.
The driver subsequently leaves the vehicle and runs away as the situation escalates.
During the incident, a voice can be heard shouting, “Shoot him, shoot him!” One of the men appears to be carrying a firearm and moves in the direction of the fleeing driver.
The footage later shows individuals searching through the vehicle and the driver’s belongings.
It remains unclear exactly what property was taken and whether the driver sustained any injuries.
Police Confirmation Still Needed
Earlier on Wednesday, 28 October, Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko told media that no case had been reported in connection with the incident at that stage. Police urged the driver to open a case to enable an investigation.
A subsequent social media post claims that four suspects have now been arrested. However, an updated official police statement confirming the arrests, the suspects’ identities and the charges they may face has not been independently verified.
Further details are therefore needed to establish whether the four people pictured are the individuals allegedly involved in the robbery and whether they have been formally charged.
The reported arrests would mark a significant development in the case if confirmed by police.
