The driver lost control of the vehicle, reportedly due to fatigue, causing the bus to overturn. Emergency services confirmed the driver deceased at the scene. Eleven passengers sustained injuries and were transported to Musina Hospital for medical treatment.
The bus was carrying individuals from KwaZulu-Natal to a repatriation camp in the Beitbridge area. Reports indicate the passengers were foreign nationals, with some sources specifying Malawians being repatriated.
Emergency services, law enforcement, traffic officials, and the Border Management Authority responded to the incident. They managed the scene, provided assistance to the injured, and facilitated initial investigations.
At the time of reporting, the road remained open to traffic, though temporary closures were possible for forensic investigators. Motorists in the area were advised to exercise caution, reduce speed, maintain safe following distances, and follow instructions from officials on site. Delays were expected.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, through spokesperson Mashudu Mabata, confirmed the preliminary details, including the suspected cause of fatigue leading to loss of control. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and investigate the circumstances of the crash.
