Two men, aged 20 and 25, were shot dead and a third person was wounded during a shooting in Langa, Cape Town, on Monday evening, 12 October 2026.
The incident occurred on Teenage Vuso Street in Zone 5, where police discovered the bodies of the two men inside a vehicle at approximately 18:40.
According to police, both men had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. A third victim was also injured during the shooting and transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala confirmed that Langa police had opened two murder cases and one attempted murder case following the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation. Police have not confirmed the motive for the shooting, and no arrests had been made at the time of reporting.
Langa community leader Nomalungelo Bikitsha said the incident had left residents shocked, particularly because the shooting occurred while people were returning home from work and members of the public, including children, were in the area.
Bikitsha said community leaders intended to work towards strengthening safety measures in the neighbourhood, including efforts to ensure a more visible presence by Community Police Forum members and police officers.
She also indicated that the community had previously experienced shootings and that local crime-prevention initiatives were already in place, although resources remained limited.
Police have not released further details about the identities of the deceased or the circumstances that led to the shooting.
