Police in the OR Tambo District arrested nine male suspects, aged between 18 and 23, in connection with two simultaneous armed business robberies that took place in the Tsolo central business district on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
According to the South African Police Service, the incident occurred at about 13:00. The suspects, operating in two separate groups, carried out the robberies at two shops at the same time. They then fled the scene in a Toyota bakkie, travelling in the direction of Qumbu.

12-year-old Bandile Makhubo remains missing more than a month after reported kidnapping in Palm Springs, Evaton
A 12-year-old Grade 6 learner, Bandile Makhubo, has been missing since Saturday, 27 June 2026, after he was reportedly abducted from his grandmother’s residence in Palm Springs, Evaton, in Gauteng’s Sedibeng District.
According to information released by police and circulated in public appeals shortly after the incident, four men travelling in a white Toyota Quantum took the boy from the property.
