Earlier today in Nelspruit, a cross-pavement robbery occurred involving a Fidelity cash vehicle. A suspect approached the vehicle and gained access through the passenger door, where he proceeded to attack a Fidelity CIT officer. The officer sustained stab wounds to the rib cage and shoulder and is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital.
During the incident, a security officer from a nearby retail store intervened and discharged his firearm, striking the suspect three times. We presume the suspect was fatally wounded.
We are working closely with law enforcement authorities as investigations into the incident continue.
