An alleged kidnapping case involving a Zimbabwean national has surfaced in Olivenhoutbosch, north of Johannesburg, with disturbing footage linked to the incident circulating on social media platforms and messaging groups.
The victim has been identified as Prichard Ncube. Information currently circulating online alleges that kidnappers are demanding a ransom payment of R7 000 from the victim’s family for his release.
Details surrounding the incident remain limited, and authorities have not yet publicly confirmed the full circumstances of the alleged kidnapping. The exact date and location where the victim was allegedly abducted have also not been officially disclosed.
The case has drawn significant attention online after a disturbing video allegedly connected to the victim began circulating on social media and WhatsApp groups. Due to the graphic and sensitive nature of the footage, several pages and community groups have opted not to post the full video publicly, instead directing users to external links or private channels.
Community members and social media users have expressed concern over the growing number of kidnapping and extortion-related incidents reported across parts of Gauteng in recent years. Criminal syndicates involved in ransom kidnappings have increasingly targeted both South African citizens and foreign nationals, with families often contacted and pressured to make payments for the release of victims.
At this stage, it remains unclear whether the matter has officially been registered with the South African Police Service or whether any suspects have been identified. No arrests have been announced.
Members of the public with credible information regarding the alleged kidnapping have been urged to contact SAPS or their nearest police station. Authorities are also encouraging the public not to share graphic content online, as it may interfere with investigations and further traumatise the victim’s family.

Overloaded Malawi-to-Johannesburg Bus Intercepted on N1 in Limpopo
Traffic authorities in Limpopo have intercepted an overloaded cross-border bus travelling from Malawi to Johannesburg on the N1 highway, raising renewed concerns over public transport safety and compliance on South Africa’s major routes.
The bus was stopped during a law enforcement operation on the N1 bypass near Polokwane after officials allegedly noticed that the vehicle appeared heavily overloaded. Authorities later confirmed that the bus was carrying significantly more passengers than it was legally permitted to transport.
According to reports, the vehicle was designed to carry 65 passengers, but officials discovered that there were approximately 90 occupants on board at the time of the interception. Other reports linked to the same operation indicated that some overloaded cross-border buses travelling between Malawi and South Africa had even exceeded 100 passengers, including minors.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety said the interception formed part of ongoing road safety and compliance operations targeting public transport vehicles operating on major provincial routes. Authorities have intensified inspections of buses travelling between neighbouring countries and South Africa following a series of deadly crashes involving long-distance public transport vehicles.
Officials reportedly found several safety and compliance concerns during inspections of cross-border buses operating along the route. In similar recent incidents involving Malawi-bound and Gauteng-bound buses, officers discovered expired operating licences, copied licence discs and unroadworthy conditions, including missing wheels on some vehicles. Authorities said such defects place passengers and other road users at serious risk.
The intercepted bus was impounded while authorities processed the matter further. Reports indicate that passengers were left stranded in Polokwane while transport arrangements and investigations were being handled by officials.
Transport authorities have repeatedly warned operators against overloading buses, especially on long-distance cross-border routes linking Malawi, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Overloading is considered a major road safety violation because it can affect braking distance, tyre performance, vehicle stability and driver control, particularly during long journeys on national highways.
The latest interception comes amid increased scrutiny of public transport safety in Limpopo after several major bus crashes in recent months. Authorities have stated that roadblocks and vehicle inspections will continue across the province to identify unsafe vehicles and ensure operators comply with transport regulations.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has encouraged members of the public to report unsafe or suspicious public transport vehicles to law enforcement agencies as part of efforts to improve road safety and prevent further tragedies on South African roads.

Three men were shot and killed while two other people were wounded after armed suspects stormed a house in Groendal, Franschhoek, on Sunday morning in what police have described as a targeted shooting incident.
The deadly attack took place in Jakaranda Street at approximately 9:55am, sending shockwaves through the Cape Winelands community as residents awoke to heavy police activity and the sound of gunfire.
According to information released by the South African Police Service, two armed men entered the home and opened fire on the occupants inside the property. Multiple shots were fired during the attack.
Three men, believed to be between the ages of 30 and 35, were declared dead at the scene.

Police crime scene experts spent several hours combing through the property and surrounding area for ballistic evidence and other forensic material linked to the shooting. Detectives were also seen interviewing witnesses and gathering information from residents in the neighbourhood.
The Franschhoek police initially opened cases of murder and attempted murder following the incident. However, due to the seriousness of the attack, detectives attached to the Western Cape Provincial Serious Violent Crimes unit have since taken over the investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that no arrests had been made by Sunday afternoon, and investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the killings.
Police have launched a manhunt for the two gunmen responsible for the attack, who reportedly fled the scene shortly after the shooting.
The incident has once again highlighted ongoing concerns around violent crime in parts of the Western Cape, where several multiple-victim shootings have been recorded in recent months. Residents in Groendal described the aftermath as chaotic, with emergency vehicles, police units, and forensic teams flooding the area shortly after the shooting was reported. Roads around the scene were partially restricted while investigators conducted their work.
Officials have urged anyone with information that may assist the investigation to contact police or provide anonymous tip-offs through Crime Stop.
