Cookhouse, Eastern Cape – November 30, 2025 – A severe traffic accident on the N10 highway has resulted in the complete closure of both lanes, causing extensive delays for motorists traveling between Port Elizabeth and the interior regions.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of November 30, 2025, approximately 30 kilometers before Cookhouse when approaching from the Port Elizabeth direction. Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, where paramedics continue to assess the situation amid scattered debris across the roadway.

The collision involved two interlink trucks and a light motor vehicle. One of the interlinks belonged to a moving company, while the other was transporting livestock. Both rigs came to rest across the roadway, fully obstructing traffic in both directions and leading to long queues of backed-up vehicles on either side of the blockage.

At this stage, the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation, with no details released regarding the exact cause. Authorities have not yet confirmed an official diversion route, and drivers are advised to seek alternative paths or monitor updates from the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) for further guidance.

No information on injuries or fatalities has been confirmed, as on-site assessments by emergency personnel are ongoing. Preliminary investigations are expected to provide additional details once completed by the relevant authorities.

The N10 serves as a critical artery for freight and passenger transport in the Eastern Cape, and this closure is anticipated to impact logistics operations, particularly for heavy vehicles navigating the route. Motorists affected by the backups are urged to exercise patience and ensure they have sufficient fuel and provisions while awaiting clearance.

Updates will follow as more information becomes available from official sources.
