Johannesburg – A 26-year-old woman was brutally shot and stabbed to death in the early hours of Thursday morning on 3rd Ruth Street in Alexandra township.
The victim and her sister had just been dropped off by staff transport after completing their shift at Debonairs Central Park. As the two women approached their residence shortly after midnight, a lone gunman who had been hiding nearby opened fire, striking the victim once in the back. After she collapsed to the ground, the attacker fired an additional five shots into her body and then stabbed her six times with a knife.
The victim’s sister, who was walking alongside her, was unharmed in the attack but fainted at the scene. She later confirmed that nothing was stolen from either of them and that the suspect’s face was fully covered.
Family members described the deceased as the “sweetest and most harmless person.” They revealed that the father of her three children had been shot and killed at the exact same location in November 2024, exactly one year earlier.
Police have opened a murder docket and are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made, and the motive for the killing remains unknown.
The grieving family has appealed to the public for financial assistance to cover the costs of the funeral and burial of their loved one.
