Rabat, Morocco – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the final shortlists for the CAF Awards 2025, with several South African players included in the men’s categories ahead of the ceremony scheduled for 8 December 2025.
Ronwen Williams, captain of Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana, is nominated for the Goalkeeper of the Year award. Iqraam Rayners of Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch FC is listed for the Interclub Player of the Year category.
No South African player appears on the final shortlist for the African Player of the Year award, which consists of five nominees from other African nations.
Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Benedict Vilakazi publicly stated that Thembinkosi Lorch and Themba Zwane should be considered for selection in the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The awards ceremony will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Rabat, Morocco. Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, the 2023 winner, was not included on any shortlist for the 2025 edition.
