Guwahati, India – South Africa completed a 2-0 Test series sweep over India with a crushing 408-run victory in the second Test at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on 24 November 2025.
India were bowled out for 173 in their second innings while chasing 582 for victory. Kagiso Rabada claimed three wickets for 32 runs, Wiaan Mulder took three for 36, and Keshav Maharaj finished with three for 42. Spinner Simon Harmer played a key role across both innings, taking crucial wickets on a turning pitch.
South Africa had declared their second innings at 352 for 6, setting India an unattainable target. Aiden Markram scored 122 and Temba Bavuma contributed 87 in the Proteas’ second innings, while David Bedingham registered a century in the first innings of the series opener.
The result marks South Africa’s first Test series win on Indian soil since the 1996-97 season and India’s heaviest-ever home defeat by runs margin. It is also only the second time India have been whitewashed in a home Test series of two or more matches.
The series victory lifts South Africa above India in the ICC World Test Championship standings. The Proteas now prepare for a three-match ODI series against India starting on 5 December 2025 in Bengaluru.
