Principal and Administrator Gunned Down at Enxiweni Primary Scool in Tembisa

Tembisa, Gauteng – 18 November 2025

The principal of Enxiweni Primary School and a female member of the administrative staff were shot and killed in the school’s administrative office on Tuesday afternoon in a targeted attack that has left the community reeling.

According to preliminary information from the scene, several masked gunmen entered the administration block after normal school hours and opened fire inside the office. Both women were hit multiple times and died at the scene despite emergency efforts.

The shooting occurred while the deputy principal and several other staff members were still present in the same office. None of the witnesses were physically harmed, but they were described as deeply traumatised by the ordeal.

Police responded quickly and immediately cordoned off the office area to preserve evidence and begin forensic investigations. A large contingent of officers remains on site, maintaining strict control of the premises.

Dozens of concerned and shocked parents, residents and community members have gathered outside the school gates since news of the killings spread.

Investigators have confirmed that the attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting. No arrests have been made and the motive for the double murder remains unknown at this stage.

The Gauteng Department of Education has not yet issued an official confirmation on whether classes will resume normally on Wednesday. Counselling support is being arranged for affected staff and learners.

The incident is the latest in a series of violent attacks at South African schools this year, once again raising serious concerns about safety on education premises. Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.Post not marked as liked
