Gunshots Erupt Near Morningfield Spar in Cape Town’s Parkland Area

Multiple gunshots were reported near Morningfield Spar in Parkland, Cape Town, during an incident involving Nigerian foreigners.

Witnesses at the scene described a confrontation that broke out over drugs and territory. The reports state that the individuals involved were attempting to kill another Nigerian foreigner amid the dispute.

Eyewitness accounts confirm that a red Range Rover and a silver Audi sped away from the location immediately after the gunshots rang out.

The entire event unfolded in the Parkland suburb of Cape Town, close to the Morningfield Spar retail area.

Man Rescued After Falling Into Ditch on Jabu Ngcobo Drive Near Mountview

An adult male was rescued on the afternoon of Saturday, 4 April 2026, after he fell into a deep ditch on Jabu Ngcobo Drive near Mountview in KwaZulu-Natal.

The man had parked his silver Ford Fiesta on the roadside and stopped to urinate when he slipped down a steep embankment. He landed in the ditch, which was located some distance from the roadway, and was unable to climb back up to his vehicle. Passers-by later heard calls for help coming from the ditch.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were driving past the scene and noticed South African Police Service (SAPS) officials searching the nearby bushes. The RUSA team stopped to assist with the rescue operation.

Initial attempts to pull the man out using a rope were unsuccessful. The Ethekwini Fire Department was called to the scene and arrived with specialised rescue equipment. After several attempts, the rescue teams successfully extracted the man from the ditch.

The male sustained only minor bruising in the incident. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fall.

Two Suspects Arrested After Robbery at PnP Liquor Store in Hatfield

Hatfield – Two suspects were arrested moments after they allegedly robbed a PnP Liquor store in Hatfield.

A white VW Polo, believed to be linked to multiple robberies, was intercepted right outside the store at the corner of Hilda and Park streets.

Items recovered at the scene include stolen liquor, cash, and a replica firearm.

Police have stated that the suspects may be connected to a Sunnyside robbery, a previous Hatfield liquor store heist, and a recent armed robbery in Moot.

The swift arrests followed coordinated action between the South African Police Service (SAPS) and security companies including VumaCam, Fidelity ADT, Peaceforce, Bidvest Protea Coin and others.

Traffic Officer Shot During Roadside Stop on N7 Near Bulshoek Dam

A traffic officer was shot and injured on Thursday evening while conducting a routine vehicle stop on the N7 near Bulshoek Dam on the West Coast.

The officer, who is stationed at the Vredendal provincial traffic centre, was treated in hospital following the incident, which took place shortly before 19:00. Officials described the event as a targeted attack.

The officer had pulled over a vehicle after suspecting the driver was under the influence of alcohol. During the interaction, the situation escalated and the officer was shot. No fine had been issued at the time of the shooting.

The suspect fled the scene immediately afterwards and is still at large.

The injured officer used his cellphone to call for assistance. A colleague responded promptly, and emergency services reached the scene without delay.

Western Cape MEC for Mobility Isaac Sileku condemned the attack on the law enforcement officer.

“I am deeply shocked and angered by this attack on one of our dedicated officers. As we approach the busy Easter weekend, when officers are working long hours to keep travellers safe, it is unacceptable that they face such violence,” Sileku said.

He confirmed that the relevant authorities are working closely with the South African Police Service to apprehend the suspect and that support is being provided to the injured officer and his family.

Police have opened a manhunt for the suspect. Anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle involved is asked to contact the Klawer police station.

Traffic Officer Shot in Leg During Cash-in-Transit Robbery Near Bloemfontein

Bloemfontein – A female traffic officer was shot and wounded in the leg during a cash-in-transit robbery in the Hillside View area on Saturday morning, 4 April 2026.

The incident occurred on OR Tambo Road when a cash-in-transit vehicle was rammed by another vehicle, causing it to roll into a nearby field. More than ten armed suspects, dressed in blue overalls and wearing balaclavas, then approached the overturned vehicle and forced two staff members out at gunpoint.

According to the driver of the cash-in-transit vehicle, Isaac Miya, a traffic patrol vehicle that was in the area made a U-turn to respond to the scene. As the patrol vehicle turned, the suspects opened fire, striking one of the traffic officers in the leg.

The injured officer was rushed to Busamed Hospital in Bloemfontein, where she is reported to be in a stable condition and receiving medical care.

Free State MEC for Community Safety, Jabu Mbalula, confirmed the officer’s stable condition and noted that the attack took place during the Easter weekend when traffic on the road was relatively light.

Police have launched an investigation into the robbery and are appealing for any information that could assist in tracing the suspects and recovering any stolen cash.

No arrests have been made at this stage, and authorities have not released further details about the amount of cash involved or the make and model of the vehicles used in the attack.

Road Traffic Inspectorate officers in Park Rynie have arrested a motorist for travelling at 190 km/h in a 120 km/h zone.

The driver was behind the wheel of a Polo vehicle when RTI personnel clocked the excessive speed. At the time of the stop, the motorist was in a jovial mood. He was observed whistling, singing and playing the song “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly.

The arrest was carried out by RTI Officer Kemp. During the interaction, Officer Kemp addressed the motorist in Zulu, using the phrase “Nenzani la ezweni”. The driver remained smiling throughout the exchange.

Following the stop, the motorist was taken into custody. He has been placed in the cells and will spend the night there as authorities process the case.

The incident occurred on the stretch of road in Park Rynie where the speed limit is clearly posted at 120 km/h. No further details on the motorist’s identity or additional charges have been released at this stage. RTI officers continue to enforce speed limits in the area as part of ongoing road safety operations.
