Johannesburg, South Africa – Authorities have detained Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, son of the late Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe, in connection with a shooting at his residence in the upscale Hyde Park area.
The event unfolded early Thursday morning when a gardener working at the property sustained gunshot wounds. The victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene and took two individuals into custody, one of whom is Mugabe. An investigation into attempted murder has been launched, with police actively seeking the weapon involved in the incident.
According to accounts from witnesses, Mugabe at first declined to allow access through the gates but later complied with the officers’ demands.

Decapitated Remains Found Near Riet River Temple in KwaZulu-Natal
Riet River, KZN – Authorities in KwaZulu-Natal are investigating the discovery of a decapitated male body near the Sri Emperumal Temple on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
The remains were located about 50 meters from the temple in thick bushland after a tip-off to the Reaction Unit South Africa Operations Center prompted a response from officers.
Upon reaching the site, responders were guided to the area where they found the body on the ground, with the skull positioned several meters away. The body showed significant decomposition, and the skull had no remaining flesh.
Local residents reportedly learned of a body in the same location around two months earlier, in December 2025, but dismissed the sighting due to the reporter being a recognized drug user. As a result, no report was made to police at that time.
The deceased’s identity remains undetermined, and the cause of death has yet to be established.
Hijacking Suspects Arrested Following High-Speed Chase and Crash in Chatsworth
Three individuals suspected of hijacking were apprehended in Chatsworth after a pursuit ended in a collision on Higginson Highway. The incident occurred when the suspects, attempting to evade authorities, veered into oncoming traffic and struck a civilian vehicle.

The crash site, located on the M1 section of Higginson Highway near Havenside, was secured as a crime scene, leading to temporary road closures.

Medical assessments revealed a severe infection, thought to have originated during the delivery process. This infection subsequently affected her kidneys and brain, leading to a swift decline in her health.
Despite efforts to treat her, Sibahle succumbed to her condition after several days. Her newborn child, however, remains healthy.
The mother also claimed that Sibahle suffered an injury during the birth, specifically from her legs being spread excessively wide. The family believes this injury may have played a role in the infection’s development and spread.
In response, relatives are demanding a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident, emphasizing the need for accountability and detailed explanations about the events leading to Sibahle’s passing.
